Why can't I see anything on my laptop screen?

I turn on my laptop and the screen is blank. I can vaguely see things on the screen, but the screen is not illuminated. Could there be something wrong with the light panel? And is there anything that I can do about it? Can I just buy another light panel and replace the old one?

You might want to check your power saving settings in Control Panel Check the screen blanking settings Also review the other settings to make sure your computer isn't being put into hibernation or standby mode If you can see faint images on the black screen then the solution is not to replace the screen Just replace the light for your lcd screen It could be the inverter also(a little circuit board that drives the voltage up to power the light bulb).
